Vinnie Colaiuta - "I hold Jim in
extremely high honor. His books were very instrumental in my learning
and development as a drummer, and I am sure for many, many drummers
throughout the world. I believe that "Advanced Techniques" was most
probably the first of it's kind to reveal and disseminate the techniques
that were used at a time when jazz drumming had changed completely, and
to actually teach not only in the development of this style, but enable
drummers to develop independence and a sensibility that would benefit
their drumming in all spheres of playing. And, I consider it relevant
today as well. When book 2 was released, it went to another level,
enabling drummers to basically have a plethora of instantly available
permutations at their disposal, not only increasing the amount of
available information, but also to stimulate their imaginations at the
same time. Again: truly groundbreaking and quite visionary to this day."
Steve Smith - "Jim Chapin has made a huge contribution to the development of drumset playing through the groundbreaking books he has written. I've personally studied out of Jim Chapin's books since the early 1960s." Mike Mangini
- "Jim Chapin Knows Drumming. His insight is always spot-on, and the
information he is sharing is sure to help all of us." Carmine Appice - "I think Jim and his books are the best...classic drummer, classic books. Great stuff!!!" |
